Trees
Give a little love
Today I gave congratulations on the new caretaking role to a writer on Substack, Kelton Wright, Shangrilogs. She will be watering trees... trees that are not hers. As I read her article today, it was a relief to hear someone nurturing trees as our neighbor is logging 40 acres of forest in what was first called a fire prevention cut but is now being acknowledged as a "harvest". Each morning, we awake at 6:30am to chain saws buzzing and the huge crack followed by the thump of these old trees hitting the ground. The ground shakes and so does my being when each hits the ground. The forest looks like a war zone. These cuts are common in Oregon. Sometimes, it feels like people have forgot that they need trees to breath, physically and mentally.
But, I digress. Congratulations to Kelton, helping trees grow! If you find time, water a tree that you do not own!! And, if you get a chance, check out her Substack.
